Agatha Raisin, an irascible but endearing middle-aged dynamo, has impulsively sold her London public relations business and "retired" to the serenity of the Cotswolds, only to discover that it's difficult for an "incomer" to be accepted there. Determined to make friends quickly, she enters the village quiche-making competition. To increase her odds of winning, Aggy—whose culinary skills extend as far as the microwave—secretly buys her quiche at a renowned London quicherie. Not only does she not win—the judge falls dead after eating her mysteriously poisoned entry! What follows is a classic adventure of mystery, intrigue and comedy, as Agatha—now a suspect—must admit to the illicit quiche purchase which will surely make her a village outcast. On the other hand, perhaps she can exonerate herself by helping the local authorities track down the murderer. Witty but sarcastic, lovable but exasperating, dominating but vulnerable, Agatha Raisin is a total delight (and an actress' s dream).
