It's rare for a play to capture truly a special moment in time, a particular moment in the lives of some real people. What makes this play so exceptional is not only that it does this so beautifully but that it's done with fun, excitement, and some broad comedy scenes that often stop the show with laughter! Four attractive sisters are all blazing with excitement over the wonderful World's Fair that is about to open right there in St. Louis. The girls are also in a state about the love life of their only brother, whom they suspect of ditching his sweet hometown girl for a snob from the East. In the midst of the sisters' humorous maneuvers to rule (or ruin) their brother's new romance, Father finally breaks in with his announcement. He's been offered a better job in New York! This will mean leaving their home in St. Louis and missing the fair! At this, the girls unite for action. A most popular and charming play!
A perfect Rated G show! The audience LOVED this show! It was equally as fun for the children in the audience as it was for the adults. The cast's high school classmates loved it too. We were able to use a real cat for Lady Babbie! That, along with all the humorous moments made this a favorite for sure.
Meet Me in St. Louis is so much fun to perform. The characters are so full of life and are a challenge for young actors. The audience loved it and the sisters with all their antics kept the audience laughing.
The play was fantastic. It is very easy to prepare for, having one set. We wallpapered the stage back and flats. The audience loved it. Costumes and props were not hard to find.
Meet Me in St. Louis was a lot of fun to produce. Kids could act like kids and wear cool costumes, too. One of our audience members -- a theater major who saw both performances -- said it was exquisite.
The audience loved it, and it was so fun to rehearse the students didn't get tired of rehearsing it, like sometimes happens with a high school show.
We do not often find a show with good parts for teens and children as well as a range in ages of adults. Six different families were represented in our productionÑfathers and daughters, mothers and daughters, etc. We have had a wonderful response from our audience.
Meet Me in St. Louis is a delightful story about growing up and discovering what's truly important. It is the perfect play for high schoolers because it is a true picture of their lives.
Wonderful characters that challenge actors to find layers for character development and a delightful sense of family, with enough mischief to keep it interesting.
An excellent family play! Easy to produce with no need for set change. A delightful story.
Wonderfully funny, clean, wholesome and family-friendly play. Very easy to stage.
Have the water scene take place on stageÑmuch more funny with a second story window.
We created fireworks for end of play with Adobe Animator and projected behind window.
We had so many cute children try out that we cast four "Tooties," one for each night we play (Thursday-Sunday). We double cast some other roles so more people could have a chance to play.
We were able to get most of our costumes at thrift stores. We used gelatin (double strength) cut into small triangles for our "chicken hearts."
