When the lights go up and Dorothy finds herself in the land of Oz—being hailed by the Munchkins for saving them from the Wicked Witch of the East—it is a pretty bewildering experience for a little girl from Kansas. But Dorothy bravely sets out to find a way back home and soon meets noble friends: the Scarecrow seeking brains, the Cowardly Lion who wants courage and the Tin Woodman who desires a heart above everything. These brave adventurers share terrifying experiences in a play designed for ease of production.
Lots of fun elements in the show. My middle school students loved it.
It was a simple and effective script that opens up the doors to you and your actors to explore creative ideas and make things magical. I recommend this script to any and all who want to do something that will bring a large group of people to your shows and will allow you and your students to have fun and be as creative as possible.
The sets are also simple to create. There are quite a few props but ask your families for anything you need. It's surprising what people have lying around their homes!
