Here are the exuberant escapades of Cornelia Otis Skinner and Emily Kimbrough, determined to prove how "cosmopolitan" they can be on an uproarious trip to Europe. The ship sails and the girls are on their own. They have an adventure with a stowaway, mistake the leader of the ship's band for an admiral and meet two very handsome medical students. Then the girls are off to Paris. Here they get involved with a gas meter that explodes, sleep in a bed that Cardinal Richelieu once used, and convince a great French actor that he should give them acting lessons.
We had a delightful time -- from rehearsals to performances! Even the minor characters provided the opportunity for the actors to make them as humorous and memorable as the lead roles.
This was a wonderful experience. Easy to stage and enjoyable to perform and watch.
This was a purely delightful evening of wholesome family entertainment.
All who came enjoyed an evening of laughter and reminisced about the innocence of days gone by. Hilariously funny, fast paced, not a dull momentÑOur Hearts Were Young and Gay has become one of our high school's all-time favorite plays!
A lighthearted, fun play for both cast and audience. The humor is real to life and accessible to all ages. A great show for churches, schools and others that have to be careful about family-friendly content. This was an audience "favorite" in our series.
We simplified some of the props and stage furniture requirements to fit our smaller stage/ lack of resources.
