Synopsis

This is the story of Junie Moon and her friends, Arthur and Warren. Each has been tragically handicapped but each has retained the strength and humor they desperately need in their search for a fulfilling life. Meeting in a hospital, they decide to pool their meager resources and face the world together. The play tells of their adventures, sad and happy, comic and tragic. The New York Times called Junie Moon "...most affecting work...funny, sardonic, more often tender."

Customer Reviews

Junie Moon offers young actors a challenge in stretching to portray people who are not physically or emotionally attractive. It was a difficult but ultimately rewarding production.

Karen Strickland, Jasper County High School, Monticello, GA

This show is so relevant for the high school student. Thematically it deals with something all teens are looking for -- acceptance. My students thoroughly enjoyed performing this show.

Brad Watson, Nampa Senior High School, Nampa, ID

Junie Moon is filled with interesting characters, even down to the smallest roles. It is touching and thought provoking. It will leave an audience thinking about how they view others.

Kerry Lawson, Salem Academy, Winston-Salem, NC

Each part has REAL character and acting content. There is no empty "walk-on" in Junie. Cast of 12Ñ12 acting challenges.

Danielle Barry, Raritan Valley Community College VAPA Department, North Branch, N.J.

The students and the audiences loved this show. Its mixture of comedy and touching drama challenged the actors, but I was excited by how well they were able to live up to that challenge.

Zac Curtis, Harrison High School, Colorado Springs, Colo.

The play was a huge success! It was the best nonmusical play that we've ever done here. The students loved the script because it challenged them to stretch their dramatic acting skills. There was not a dry eye in the audience every night the show ran.

Nelsa Feaster, Crest High School, Shelby, N.C.

Excellent playÑa wonderful challenge for studentsÑnot a single flat character in the play.

Chris Stiles, Concordia High School, Concordia, Kan.
