The Cheaper by the Dozen family is real and wonderful and this play is about the time in their lives that begins shortly after Cheaper by the Dozen. Father, who was one of the great pioneer efficiency experts and who applied this brilliance to raising his large family, is gone. The special way in which the Gilbreths meet this crisis makes the finale a happy and satisfying theatrical event.
Belles on Their Toes is a delightfully funny sequel to the family classic Cheaper By the Dozen. Good roles for children ages 5 to 18 and for adults, too. Not as sentimental as Cheaper, this more humorous look at the incredible Gilbreth family is fun for actors and audience.
Belles on Their Toes is an extremely funny (and fun to produce) play. The audience just roared. We had many people come back for the second night. This is a fantastic script!
The show proved to be a charming crowd pleaser. Our young people relished learning about a different time period and embraced their roles. With only one set, this is an ideal community theatre or school production.
