Sylvia Ashby concentrated on acting as an undergrad at the University of Iowa and grad assistant at the University of Hawaii long before starting to write scripts for young audiences. Since then, she has published 13 plays with some 1500 productions. Shining Princess of the Slender Bamboo (IE Clark Inc.) and Secret Garden were AATE Unpublished Play Project winners; Tales of Molly Malloy (Dramatic Publishing), Secret Garden (Baker's Plays) and Master Skylark of Stratford were semi-finalists in the Bonderman Symposium.
