Nedra Pezold Roberts has been writing all of her life, and a good portion of that time she’s spent advising student writers and editing their work. She has published two textbooks, and written 10 plays and two novels. Her play The Vanishing Point was a finalist in the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center’s 2011 National Playwrights Conference and was a winner of the Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre’s 2011 ScriptFEST competition. The play later won the 2013 Southern Playwrights Competition and AACT’s 2014 NewPlayFest. The California production of the play swept the competition in the Sacramento theatre region, winning seven of the eight Elly Theatre Awards for which it was nominated, including best original script. In 2014, Wash, Dry, Fold was a finalist in FutureFest at the Dayton Playhouse, in new-play competitions at Kitchen Dog Theater and Strange Sun Theater, and in 2016 competitions at Theatricum Botanicum and The Bridge Initiative: Women in Arizona Theatre. The play was her second AACT NewPlayFest win, this time in the 2015 competition and was produced in 2016 at the Chicago Street Theatre in Valparaiso, Ind. Wrong Number was produced in 2016 by the Gallery Players and won the Hudson Shakespeare Company’s 2016 New Works Competition. It also won the TNT POPS! 2016-17 New Play Project and will be produced by the Baytown Little Theatre in 2017. Roberts’ plays have been produced across the country from New York to California. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, Working Title Playwrights and the Atlanta Writers Club.
