Jim Henry is a playwright, screenwriter and actor. His play The Seventh Monarch had a three-month run off-Broadway at the Acorn Theatre in New York City. The Seventh Monarch is the winner of three playwriting awards: Plays for the 21st Century (The Playwrights Theater, Inc., of Dallas); first place in the San Francisco Dramarama Play Festival (The Playwrights' Center of San Francisco); and the Albert Panowski Playwriting Award (Forest Roberts Theatre at Northern Michigan University). Other productions include The Road Theatre in North Hollywood, Calif., Chicago Street Theatre, LaCrosse Community Theatre in La Crosse, Wis., and Missouri Valley College. Henry's first play, The Angels of Lemnos, has been produced throughout the United States and in Australia. The play world premiered at Chicago Dramatists and won Chicago's Jeff Award for Best New Work in 1999. It ran for five months in Los Angeles, receiving a Los Angeles Times Critic's Choice, rave reviews from Variety and a Michael Devereaux "Robby" Award for Best New Play in Hollywood, Calif. Henry's play Backwards in High Heels received its world premiere in Los Angeles with rave reviews. His play Brother of All was produced at Chicago Street Theatre and received its world premiere at Detroit Repertory Theatre in March 2014. Henry's other plays include Bury Me, Jellofish, Busting the Fence, Mairzy Doats, Masterminds, Greetings From New Guinea and A Worthy Choice. His screenwriting credits include Jupiter in Vegas, Young Again, Moon Shadows, The Seventh Monarch, Eternal Patrol and The Angels of Lemnos. Moon Shadows won fourth place in the Final Draft, Inc., Big Break Screenwriting Contest. The Angels of Lemnos won third place at the Hollywood Film Festival and was a finalist in the Sundance Institute's Feature Film Project. Henry optioned two screenplays with producer Ian Bryce (Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Saving Private Ryan, Spiderman and Almost Famous). Henry is an actor and writer in the Chicagoland area, a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists and a literary manager at Chicago Street Theatre. He and his wife, Dona, have been married 35 years and are blessed with eight children and seven grandchildren.
