Helen Butleroff was born to parents who met while dancing on Broadway. As a child she performed for seven years on NBC-TV's The Children's Hour. In later years, after receiving her bachelor's degree in speech/theatre, she performed as a Radio City Rockette and was dance captain on Broadway for Mack and Mabel starring Robert Preston. This led to a career in directing and choreography. Her New York directing and choreography credits include Jerry Herman's The Grand Tour at The Jewish Repertory Theatre, The Gay Divorcee at the Kaufman Theater and Yiddle with a Fiddle at Town Hall. Butleroff has directed over 50 musicals for regional theaters including Goodspeed Opera House, Kansas City Starlight, Maine State Music Theatre, Westbury Music Fair, Music Theatre of Wichita and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. She has been conceiver/director/choreographer of two critically acclaimed off-Broadway musicals: Pets! and That's Life!, which was nominated by the Outer Critics Circle as best off-Broadway musical and released on compact disk.
