Eduardo Machado is the author of over 25 plays and several translations, including Cuba and the Night, Stevie Wants to Play the Blues, A Burning Beach, Why to Refuse, Broken Eggs and When the Sea Drowns in Sand. His plays have been produced in regional theater all over the country, New York City and London. Some of these theaters include the Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Long Warf Theater, the Mark Taper Forum, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Ensemble Studio Theatre, the American Place Theater, El Repertorio Español, the Los Angeles Theater Center and the New Mexico Repertory. Machado has recently completed writing and directing his first feature-length film, Exiles in New York, which premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, AFI Film Festival, South by Southwest and Festival International Del Nuevo Cine Latino Americano. Machado is the head of Playwriting at Columbia University and Co-Artistic Director at The Cherry Lane Theatre in New York.
