David O is a composer, performer and musical director whose work has been featured at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Mark Taper Forum and the Hollywood Bowl, as well as other venues in Los Angeles and around the United States. His original musicals for families include The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip, The Legend of Alex (both collaborations with Doug Cooney, commissioned by the Mark Taper Forum's P.L.A.Y. program) and Atalanta (based on the story from "Free to Be You and Me"). Other compositions for the theater include his critically acclaimed scores for Hippolytos and Ubu Roi. His choral compositions include A Map of Los Angeles (commissioned by the Los Angeles Master Chorale), Elements and Dadme. Many Los Angeles children and their parents know David O as "The Professor" for his performances in Summersounds at the Hollywood Bowl, produced by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. His credits as musical director include the world premieres of Toy Story: The Musical and Jason Robert Brown's 13 and the West Coast premieres of Michael John LaChiusa's The Wild Party and Little Fish.
