Alan J. Prewitt was born and raised in St. Louis County until 1972. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and started his writing career at Park College on the wooded bluffs overlooking the Missouri River in the quaint village of Parkville. After graduating cum laude from Park College he worked as the Theatre and Dance Specialist for the Cultural Division of Kansas City, Missouri. Moving to Phoenix in 1980 he began writing and directing up to four plays each season for Phoenix TheatreÕs Cookie Company, a company of professional adult actors performing for families, where he still serves as artistic director and playwright in residence with more than 70 produced scripts to his credit. He has been honored with numerous awards as a playwright and director in Phoenix and with such awards as the National Society of Arts and Letters Career Achievement Award, the AriZoni Award for Outstanding Contribution to Theatre and the Arizona Theatre Alliance Award for Outstanding Arts Education Programming. He is currently preparing several more scripts for publication.
